What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is an evidence-informed, non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline. To become a chiropractor, I attended 8 years of schooling to become a primary care practitioner that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. The first time you see me, I will perform a history and physical exam to provide you with a diagnosis, and then develop a personalized, comprehensive treatment plan that may include any of: manual therapy including adjustments and mobilizations, muscle release, acupuncture, exercise, and other non-invasive therapies, and provide advice on nutrition and lifestyle counselling. You'll have the opportunity to ask as many questions as you like. Each visit afterwards is shorter than the first one and focuses on hands on treatment and rehabilitation.

A common therapy used by a chiropractor uses is spinal manipulative therapy (SMT). Specific training in SMT allows chiropractors to provide highly-skilled and precise adjustments to the vertebrae of the spine, correcting joint motion to restore proper movement and improve function.

For MSK conditions, such as low back pain, chiropractic care is considered part of your primary treatment plan. For other conditions, I will often coordinate with other health care professionals to complement or support the musculoskeletal aspects associated with your condition, to provide symptomatic relief.

If you aren't sure if chiropractic is right for you, please ask me through the contact me section of my website!
